Flat-pack furniture assembly is mostly about time, space and following the manufacturer’s instructions. A clear description avoids a provider arriving without the right information.
Identify the item and the parts
Name the piece and, where possible, the brand and model. Say whether it is new in the box, partially built, or needs disassembly first. Count the boxes so the provider can estimate the time.
Describe the assembly location
Say which room and floor it is going to, and whether there is parking, an elevator or stairs. Large wardrobes, beds and wall units need open floor space and a clear path.
Plan for anchoring and disposal
Tall furniture often should be anchored to the wall. Ask about wall type and whether anchoring is included. Agree what happens to the packaging so you are not left with an unexpected pile of cardboard.
