A handyman request is easier to quote when the job is described in plain, specific terms. What needs fixing, where it is, and when you want it done matter more than naming every possible task.
Group the work into one list
A single visit can often cover several small jobs, but each one should be listed with its location in the home. “Hang three pictures, fix a loose closet door and replace two light-bulb fixtures” is more useful than “miscellaneous repairs.” Separate anything that may need a licensed trade.
Describe the materials and finish
Note the wall type, the existing hardware and the desired finish where you can. If you already bought the parts, say so and include the model or size. If not, ask the provider whether materials are supplied, sourced or billed separately.
Confirm what the job involves
Some requests look small but involve wiring, plumbing, structural work or heights that a general handyman cannot perform without a license. State the task plainly and let the provider tell you whether it fits their scope.
