Describe what you want built or fixed
Say whether this is a repair, an adjustment or a small build from scratch. Include rough dimensions and what the piece is for. “Repair a sagging 6-foot wooden gate” is more useful than “carpentry.”
Choose and confirm materials
State the material if you know it — pine, cedar, hardwood, composite or something existing. If you want it painted, stained or left unfinished, say so. Confirm whether the provider supplies materials or you do.
Check structure and exposure
Outdoor work must handle weather and movement. If the job involves a gate, deck board, fence or trim, mention exposure and any existing rot or damage so the provider can plan the right fix.
